Heart of Gold

This piece highlights the variety and depth of my materials selection. My studio is filled with evidence of my years of collecting mosaic materials. These materials inspire me! I particularly like a recent 'find' of porcelain letters and a quantity of hearts and gold smalti.

This piece contains the following materials many of which are recycled. The four white and gold tiles are old tiles from Germany. The larger black,red, and white tiles are hand made in Czechoslovakia. The glass tiles along the top & bottom and the glass heart are made from recycled American glass. The curving lines of the larger gold glass ties are Italian. The smaller glass tiles are made in the northwest U.S.. The small flecks of gold are gold smalti from Orsoni in Venice. The porcelain letters, brass heart, stone heart, granite,stained glass, etc. come from salvage yards and garage sales.
